This show is the first in a two-part series entitled collective listening for an alternate future. The series coincides with an upcoming residency at Chisenhale studios in which I will be exploring communal sound-making and listening as a radical political practice. In this pre-emptive episode, I will be establishing the foundations from which the residency will begin, understanding the social and political climate in which we find ourselves and how looking to the past can potentially guide us in the future. The second episode of this two-part series will be a document of the residency, sharing the outcomes and learnings of working with the local community in Bow and the considerations for what role sound can play in the potential for an alternate future.
